Bio

Willa Smart is a PhD Candidate in Cultural Studies at UC Davis. Her dissertation tracks the construction of white transfemininity in the United States through the figure of the impressionable, sensitive, and upset gut. Her writing has been published by Meekling Press, Denver Quarterly, Baest, Open Space (SFMOMA), Drain Magazine, Forty-Five: A Journal of Outside Research, Publication Studio Portland, among other places. Her artwork has been presented internationally at venues such as Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Centre for Contemporary Arts Glasgow, Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts, Contemporary Art Centre Vilnius, and Enjoy Contemporary Art Space (Te Whanganui-a-Tara).
